They have also written numerous print and online articles, and publish the Backup Brain weblog. lots of examples. poor explanation.

This book was okay, and overall I'd recommend it. However, you need to be aware of what you're getting here. This book is mostly a large collection of ready-made javascript scripts. The commentary on each page is just barely enough to explain the code, but doesn't really go into much depth. I wouldn't recommend this book if you're actually trying to LEARN javascript principles and best practices. I'd suggest anything by Larry Ullman if that's the case. He actually teaches the material.

A couple beefs I have with this book. The scripts are not meant to be typed, as stated by the author, so you get no practice actually working with the code. This is a big mistake. I think you're doing your readers a huge disservice by NOT encouraging them to type in code. Because of this the scripts are way too complicated and long for a beginner to follow. Also, there is not a single comment in ANY piece of code in the book. That's just horrible code in my opinion. You need to teach and demonstrate comments in code. This is inexcusable. Lastly, there is a tendency to start off with really hard examples first.

If you want a book that has lots of javascript examples to copy and paste into your application, this book will give you good coverage. However, if you're new to javascript or trying to learn it I would not recommend this book.

Bought this book because I had a good experience with the Larry Ullman PHP Red Bunny Book....I am returning this book, I could trudge through it if I needed to, but I want to really learn the material.

From a pharmacist's perspective

This is by far the finest, most comprehensive text book on pharmaceutical calculations available. This is the text by which all others are judged. It is great for the student who is unfamiliar with this topic as well as for the pharmacist who could use a refresher course. It makes a great reference text for the pharmacy.

Nice for BASIC calculations for the retail and hospital pharmacist

I have worked in a retail pharmacy and a hospital pharmacy. I believe this book covers the basics behind the calculations performed for both environments. Students should receive more training on calculations as they progress through pharmacy school, of course, but this book is a great way to get started. If you are the student who plans to go into research and production, yes, you may need additional training.

There is a difference between 11th and 12th edition. The 12th edition is missing some of the lessons that were included in the 11th edition. This doesn't necessarily mean you need to go out and buy the 11th edition instead of the 12th edition. Errors in the 11th edition may be fixed in the 12th edition. My particular pharmaceutical calculations course used the 12th edition.

I have already decided that this book will be one of those books I keep on my shelf when I finally graduate and become a pharmacist.

Subject matter is more elementary than Amiji, but there are fewer errors. Buy it if you need it for a course, the problem sets are great practice. Indispensable until a better book comes out.

A well written story, not overly described scenery but very well described scenes and amazingly described characters.I really enjoyed this story, but it leaves a lot of questions. The reader is left in no doubt that this is the first in a series.

This book is what 50 Shades wants to be if it ever grows up. 2 stubborn people meet and the adventure begins! Pleasure, pain, joy, hope, and love... Things we all have, need, or want in our lives. I can't wait to read more from this author!

I loved this story

I loved this story! Xavier Brice has been tasked with taking Io away. Of course, Io believes that she is just being taken away to the next place where she will be abused. She speaks bluntly and harshly to protect herself. She has been abused all her life and she believes that no one wants her. Brice punishes her severely when she doesn’t do as she is told. But, she is trying to protect herself from being emotionally harmed. There are many instances of Brice and Io not understanding one another. Unfortunately, it seems Io gets punished every time. Eventually, Brice gets orders to marry Io. He doesn’t know why, but he has come to care for her. The punishments in this story are pretty severe. Io gets punished again and again until she obeys or at least appears to obey. I look forward to the next book in this series. I want to know more about Io’s background. I want to know what her heritage is. I want to know who has injured her and why. I have so many questions that I want answered. I give this book 5 stars!

I Highly Recommend for Gender Transformation Fans.

I have only one negative, so I'll say it first. Personally I wish Sam would have settled for C cup size at the most. I've never been a fan of Double D.

Other than that the book is the best gender transformation I've read. Usually the transformation happens all at once, typically overnight. In this book, it happens part by part and, although I'm usually not big on magic, the magic in this story is believable. There is time to explore some feelings and face the reactions of others.

I could have missed some, but I caught not one spelling or word usage error and not one typo. There were just a couple places near the end where indentation seemed to be a bit of a problem.

I read the whole book in about one day, barely able to leave it for long.

It leaves you hanging a bit, with some mysteries yet to be solved, but sufficiently stands alone. I recommend.

Remember the one thing we all share.

New way to help and explain what can be a gut wrenching decision for some. Especially enjoyed the way the book deals with what I consider the inner shame that we all deal with rather we admit It or not. Shame keeps so many of us hiding behind locked doors and . We all deal with this differently but we all follow the same course, inevitably step out at different times. If we step out at all. The author take the subject at hand and I found the approach more than entertaining. As an old English professor told me was the way to sell books was easy. This was a really good book I loved it

This was a really good book I loved it. It was quite funny and reminded me a bit about myself. Sam was one of the most unaware person ill ever read about. The story ending was good as well. Penelope was a very funny character added to this story. I was happy to find out that somehow Miss Feleen was still alive. I wish that there was a trilogy on this book.

About the Author

Short professional biographies of all contributors are included in the back of the volume.

The editor, Gernot Beer (Graz University of Technology, Austria), is currently the head of the Institute for Structural Analysis at the University Technology, Graz Austria. His main expertise is numerical simulation and he heads a group of researchers that is developing the next generation software for the simulation of underground excavations. He has conducted research and has consulted on this topic for three decades and authored and co-authored four textbooks on this subject. Prior to coordinating the project TUNCONSTRUCT he was the coordinator of a national research initiative Simulation in Tunneling (SiTu) and of another European project (Virtual fire emergency simulation, VITRUALFIRES). The project SiTu resulted in a book “Numerical Simulation in Tunneling” published by Springer for which he was the editor. As part of his consulting activities he served, together with Prof. E.T. Brown, on a panel of experts for the investigation of the Masjed-e-Soleiman underground Hydroelectric Power Plant in Iran.

Thomas Kyte is vice president of the Core Technologies Group at Oracle Corporation and has been with the company since version 7.0.9 was released in 1993. Kyte, however, has been working with Oracle since version 5.1.5c. The best resource for understanding how Oracle really works!

I teach Oracle Database Certification courses at Austin Community College and I always tell my students that if they read Tom's book and do all the exercises until they understand the concepts they will often know far more about Oracle than the person that is interviewing them for a DBA position, especially if that interviewer learned Oracle in the Oracle 6 or 7 time frame and hasn't spent the time updating their knowledge about Oracle.

Tom's book gives DBAs the ammunition to combat the "We don't need to know how the database works, our persistence layer does all that work for us." mindset that is so prevalent in the application development industry today.

Expert Oracle Database Architecture should be required reading for any developer building applications on an Oracle Database. I can't count the number of times I've seen development teams rebuild functionality (poorly) that is included directly in the database. Or those same teams make design decisions without understanding the implications of those decisions because they've learned things like "Transactions are expensive resources that must be saved." or "We created an index and the database didn't use it, so indexes don't work."

A team that builds applications against Oracle without understanding the concepts in this book is a team that will be wasting a ton of time fixing code that has been deployed which is the most expensive code in the word to fix! The least expensive code in the world to fix: Code that hasn't been written yet.

The best book on Oracle database, ever!

Make no mistake, this is the best book on Oracle that exists! The author and book needs no introduction. My low rating is due to the fact that I already have the 1st edition of the book(for 10g), and this book appears to be mostly the same text with the scripts run under 12c environment.

If you don't own this book already, get this today! This book has certainly made me a better developer/designer. You may also want to look at the 2nd edition which is about $20 cheaper.

A little too basic for an engineer

The text was required for our air pollution class. I read most of the required readings, and there are overall decent concepts to air pollution. But, being an environmental engineer major, I found it a little too dry and more for laymen to understand.
